Homemade Burmese bomb damages USDP office in Irrawaddy Region

Rangoon (Mizzima) – A bomb blast caused serious damage to a Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) office in Myanaung Township, Irrawaddy Region on Sunday. The USDP is the majority party in the Burmese Parliament.

Township police said the bomb was homemade. There were four people in the office, but no casualties were reported.

“The bomb went off at the back of the party office. There was a Toyota Hilux there, and the car was damaged. The office’s computers and documents were destroyed,” a resident told Mizzima.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

The blast damaged a wall about 12 feet in height by 60 feet in length, residents said.
