New Delhi – Three veteran politicians are likely to attend the Hong Kong Burma Affairs meeting this coming December.

The three in question are anti-colonial freedom fighters Thakin Hla Kun, Thakin Tin Mya and Shan ethnic leader U Shwe Ohn.

The Rangoon-based political community said that they were invited by Associate Professor Dr. Kyaw Yin Hlaing of Hong Kong University's Asia and International Studies Department.

However, neither the holding of the meeting nor the Burmese government's permission for the veteran politicians to journey to Hong Kong is yet certain.

The meeting, if held, would be a free and frank discussion on Burma affairs.

The three veteran politicians are well known in the Burmese political community as outspoken critics of the National League for Democracy (NLD) party and opposition forces, saying they are responsible for the current stalemate in finding a political solution.

And whereas Shan ethnic leader U Shwe Ohn usually criticizes the new constitution drafted by junta, the other two veteran politicians maintain the view that having a constitution is better than not having one.
