Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent back 18 Rohingyas to Burma on Tuesday, according to Bangladeshi media.

Bangladeshi Border Guard personnel keep watch at a wharf in Teknaf on June 12, 2012. Border guards turned back boats transporting Rohingya Muslims fleeing violence in Burma, officials said. Meanwhile, Dhaka-based The Daily Star reported on Wednesday that 17 other Rohingyas, including women and children, had been detained after being apprehended on a passenger bus on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway that afternoon.

“Of the detainees, Mabia Katun said she and many other Rohingyas fled Myanmar and moved to Bangladesh three years ago,” the report said.

Quoting local police, the report said that, in general, the Rohingyas were spreading out from the Rohingya slum in Kutubpal to different parts of Bangladesh in search of livelihoods.
