Chiang Mai – Burmese activists cum singer Moon Aung is all set to perform his first day Australian tour with a performance at a live concert in Perth on Saturday, organizers of the tour said.

Moon Aung, who is touring Australia under the banner of "Peace Struggle", will perform in Perth on August 23, Melbourne on August 30 and in Sydney on September 6.

"In 1974-75, our struggle was led by workers, in 1988 it was led by students and in 2007 our struggle was led by monks. Whosoever is leading our movement, the goal always remains unchanged which is striving for peace," Thomas Soe, organizer of the concert, told Mizzima.

"The show title will vary from town to town. In Melbourne, it will be 'Melbourne Night'. In Perth, it will be 'Burmese Youth Live Show' etc. We have arranged to stage the show in this manner. But the main theme for all these shows will be 'Peace-Struggle," he said.

The price of the ticket will be Australian $ 20-30-50 in these towns.

"We have sold many tickets in Perth as the show will be held tomorrow. About 800 tickets have been sold each in Melbourne and Sydney," a ticket seller from Sydney said.

Moon Aung is famous in Burma for his hit albums such as '2/82 Inya', 'Moe Lone Hmine', 'Seinzamarna Nyan' and 'Let melancholic nights over' since 1984.

Enthusiastic about politics he fled to the Thai-Burma border after the military assumed power in a coup in 1988.

The Kachin ethnic singer joined the 'All Burma Students Democratic Front' (ABSDF) and served in No. 102 and 104 Battalions from 1988 to February 1993.

Then he left for Norway and resettled there in 1993 and worked for the 'Democratic Voice of Burma' (DVB) until 1996.

He is currently living in Norway with his daughter.
