Myanmar and Thai border traders are reported to be welcoming a second Maesot-Myawaddy Friendship Bridge, according to a report in Burma News International on June 11.
BNI reports a Thai construction company began working on a second bridge project on the Thai side of the border in early June.
A contractor working on the bridge told Karen News that the project had already started on the Thai side and the foundations will be laid at the beginning of July.
Work is underway to develop the Myawaddy and Mae Sot regions as major trading and manufacturing sites.
