Talks on political dialogue and reconciliation held

Three groups comprising a committee of 16 representatives from political parties, the government and ethnic ceasefire signatories gathered at the Myanmar Peace Centre yesterday for talks on future political dialogue, agreeing to place emphasis on national reconciliation, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported on 25 November.
The purpose of the Union Political Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) meeting was to facilitate upcoming political dialogue, in which Myanmar’s political problems are expected to be resolved through dialogue.
According to a press conference held afterwards, a political framework drafting committee was formed with eight representatives, each from the three sides at the tripartite talks, with those present agreeing to start drawing up the framework this Friday.
The framework is expected to be set up by 14 December and the first round of political dialogue is slated to be held no later than 13 January according to the report.
