Japanese Foreign Minister meets with Suu Kyi, President Htin Kyaw

Japanese Foreign Minster Fumio Kishida has said he warmly welcomes the new government, which has the citizens' supports and was involved in the historic power transfer, and that the Japanese government and the private sector will jointly help Myanmar's democracy and development as much as they can.
Mr Kishida said, “We will help the new government in creating jobs, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, finance and so on as much as we can.”
The Japanese Foreign Minister met with his Myanmar counterpart Aung San Suu Kyi on 3 May. After the meeting, the Japanese Foreign Minister said at their joint press conference, “We will cooperate in creating a good environment for investment which will bring benefits to both Myanmar citizens and Japanese businessmen,”
After their joint press conference, the Japanese Foreign Minister met with President Htin Kyaw.
At the meeting, they discussed Japan’s support for Myanmar's development, help in Myanmar's financial market, human resource development and matters related to Japan-Myanmar Joint Initiatives. They also talked about Japan's investments in Thilawa Special Economic Zone, creating job opportunities and a plan to cooperate in searching for the remains of Japanese soldiers who died in Myanmar during the World War II.
