A five-day workshop on parliamentary procedures started in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, aiming to broaden the knowledge of new lawmakers in Myanmar’s second parliament, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported on 16 February.
Speaking on the occasion, National League for Democracy chairperson Daw Aung San Suu Kyi urged the lawmakers to serve the interests of the country and its people as much as possible, stressing that the parliament is not a place for MPs to pursue their own interests.
A total of 18 foreign lawmakers and experts will serve as trainers to the new MPs at the workshop, which continues until 19 February.
