Information Minister to visit Rakhine to give briefings on outpost attacks

A team led by Information Minister Dr.Pe Myint will visit Rakhine State from October 11 to 14 to conduct briefings on attacks on police outposts in Maungdaw and Rethetaung townships in order to restore stability and to inform people about the truth, according to a government press statement.
Dr.Pe Myint will be accompanied by Union Minister Thein Swe, Rakhine State government Chief Minister Nyi Pu, Deputy Minister Maj. Gen. Myint Nwe, Maj. Gen. Aung Soe, Maj. Gen. Than Htut, Khin Maung Tin, Rakhine State Minister Col. Htein Lin, Dr. Chan Thar, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Soe Aung and Myanmar Police Force Deputy Chief, Pol. Brig. Gen. Aung Win Oo.
This team will brief government officials, their families, and community elders.
Unknown assailants attacked Myanmar Border Police Force camps and outposts in Maungdaw and Rethetaung Townships on 9 October. Thecamps and outposts attacked were BPF HQ in Kyikanpyin, BPF 1st Battalion Region 2 Area 5 in Ngakhura Camp and BPF Region 3 Area 9 Koetankauk outpost.
