BBC journalist jailed for alleged assault freed

A journalist from the BBC’s Myanmar-language service was freed from prison yesterday after a court accepted his appeal against a three-month sentence with rigorous labour, state media reported.
Nay Myo Lin, a journalist working for the BBC, was handed the controversial sentence in June for allegedly striking a policeman during demonstrationsby students against an education bill in Mandalay on 27 March.
