Tatmadaw (Defence Services ) C-in-C’s Office issued a press statement on November 6 which says caves have been found made by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) at Kyaukpantu and Thinbawkway villages in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.
The full text of Tatmadaw C-in-C office says, “After receiving a tip-off that the caves made by ARSA terrorists were found at Kyaukpantu and Thinbawkway villages in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, security forces visited these villages and searched in the morning of November 5. They found man-made caves of 15’ in length, 10t in width and 5’ in height at a small hillock in the middle Kyaukpantu village. The cave is reinforced with logs in the ceiling and floored by wooden planks. After inspections, the cave was believed to be used as a store for food and medicines.
Security forces then proceeded to Thinbawkway village and searched the area. There they found a cave dug in rock east of the Thinbawkway village with the dimensions of 4’x3’ with the length of about 40’ with two tunnels inside the right tunnel is about 40’ in length and built 2’-bed inside on each side of the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, about 5’x5’ space was built as a living room.
Similarly, the left side tunnel has the length of about 40’ and 2’-beds were built along the tunnel in each side with the exit is at the end of this tunnel. After inspection, it is found that about 20-25 terrorists lived in this cave and tunnel and also 5 rice bags, an empty edible oil container, student identity cards of Marmat Tu Saung (son of) Mohammed Karlar Myar from Thinbawkway village and Aduhaleik (son of) Abu Harshein, 3 Quran books and 3 worn shirts were found inside.“
