The main suspect, Maung Maung aka Hj Yassin, in a record Crystal Methamphetamines siezure in Malaysia has reportedly been arrested.
The news release issued by Ministry of Home Affairs says Maung Maung aka Hj Yassin aged 44 was arrested at 16-mile checkpoint in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region on June 5 at about 11:15 p.m.
A Police Force and Bureau of Special Investigation (BSI) team caught Maung Maung and a co-accused in this case.
He was produced before the Seikkan Township court on June 6 in the afternoon and was remanded for further investigation.
Malaysia police said in a press release issued on May 28 that the drugs were found on May 22 in a container shipped from Myanmar with tea bags.
According to the press release, the drugs weighed nearly 1.2 tons (1,187 Kg), and were worth about US$ 18 million.
