is hiring for the position of
Assistant Editor–English (full-time job)
Key Selection Criteria:
- High-level editorial experience: Minimum 5 years experience in journalism and editing
- Must be a native English speaker, knowledgeable about Burma issues
- Commitment to freedom of expression, and flexible with working hours
- Be able to meet tight deadlines
- Able to mentor Burmese staff in team and help transfer editorial/journalism skills
- Ability to rewrite, and copy edit from translated Burmese articles, sometimes of poor quality
- Able to work under pressure and share decision making with other team members
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and exhibit positive interactions will all staff or varying ranks and levels
- Must be adaptable, able to work as a team
- Must be based in Chiang Mai (Thailand) or New Delhi (India)
- Must not work for anyone else (except for Mizzima News)
Salary: Competitive local salary
Start date: 1 January 2011
