Thingyan, the traditional Water Festival marking the Burmese New Year, is beginning. Currently, we can hear beautiful songs about the festival, and people in Burma can see blooming Padauk flowers.

Burmese across the country will celebrate the coming Burmese New Year's by giving alms at Buddhist temples and attending church services. People pay their respects at Shwedagon Temple in Rangoon in this file photo. Photo: Mizzima

At this time, everyone inside Burma is excited, and Burmese in foreign countries feel an overwhelming longing for their homeland.

After the festival, the Burmese New Year will start.

On New Year’s eve, Mizzima would like to extend best wishes to all our readers and wish you blessings, joy, good health and peace.

During the Water Festival, Mizzima will take a pause from reporting from April 13 to 17.

Best wishes,
