| Dr. Maung Maung (1924-1994) served a brief term as president of Burma from August 19 – September 18 1988 before the military coup. He was one of the few high ranking civilian members of the Burmese Socialist Political Party and wrote the 1974 constitution. He served in the army during WWII and attended the Defence Services Academy. After his brief military career he became a trained lawyer, academic and historian. |
