The Democracy and Peace Party believes that they should accept the presence of the army as it is the sole holder of legislative power. Furthermore it is still too early for ordinary politicians' demands and expectations be met. The party upholds Thakhin Nu's principle of "no revenge in domestic conflicts" and therefore agrees to follow the path to new a political arrangement.

The Democracy and Peace Party held an emergency meeting and decided to withdraw from an alliance that included the National Democratic Force party after the latter accepted funds from Myanmar Fisheries Federation vice-chairman and vice chairman of the NGO, Myanmar Egress Hla Maung Shwe.
