Background
Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP) represents the Mara people of the Chin Tribe who reside in in Thantlang, Matupi and Paletwa townships in Chin state. Mr. Van Cin told Khonumthung News that “The main purpose of establishing the ENDP party is to unite the Mara tribe with the Chin ethnic group.”
The Mara people had set up the National Progressive Party (NPP) and tried to register with the Election Commission on April 10 to 13, however it was later changed to the Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP). In 1990 the Mara People’s Party was set up to represent the group in the 1990 elections, but it was abolished by the military junta.
