Background
National Democratic Force, sometimes known as United Democratic Front, is formed by former NLD CEC members and is led by Dr. Than Nyein, who opposed the NLD's boycott of the election. He said that People should approach politics pragmatically as “Sometimes when the things that we want can not happen, we need to think about other ways to achieve our main goal—how to contribute to society in a better way.” Although Aung San Suu Kyi has voiced disapproval of the breakaway faction, she is still considered as the Party's leader.

The Party believes that ethnic political issues should be resolved alongside democracy and human rights issues. As a result it plans to ally with other political parties and ethnic groups.
