176 students' unions from across Myanmar made a statement on 25 July urging people to reject any negotiations with the Military Council.

"We strongly urge people to fight against the military regime and unconditionally reject any ideas of negotiation with the junta", said the Student Union Representatives Committee (SURC).

The SURC statement was made following the execution of four democracy activists, Kyaw Min Yu (Ko Jimmy), Phyo Zeya Thaw Hla Myo Aung and Aung Thura Zaw on 23 July.

"Don't even retreat by even a hairsbreadth, keep on fighting", said Ko Min Khant Kyaw Lin, the head of the Yadanabon University Students’ Union.

The statement paid tribute to the many martyrs unjustly arrested and killed by the Military Council during the Spring Revolution that followed the coup and all the other martyrs who died fighting for democracy in Myanmar.
