3,460 people killed and 14,579 injured in connection road accidents this year

A total of 3,460 people were killed with 14,579 others injured in connection with 10,102 road accidents in Myanmar in nine months of this year, according to a press release from the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Xinhua reported.

From January to September, Yangon region registered highest mortality rate with 452 deaths, followed by Bago region with 442 deaths and Mandalay region with 425 deaths, according to figures from the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) under the ministry.

This year's figures showed a decrease in number of road accident cases from 12,084 and the number of deaths decreased by 470, compared to the same period of last year.
