Alleged police informant assassinated in Ayeyarwady’s Kyan Khin Township

Myint Thein, a well-known police informant, was shot dead in Khone Gyi village, Khone Gyi tract, Kyan Khin Township, Ayeyarwady region at around 9 pm on January 15, according to local residents.

Myint Thein was shot dead playing billiards. A local resident said that local people were often arrested because Myint Thein passed information to the junta troops.

"Many people were arrested because Myint Thein passed the information to the police and the army that there were PDFs in our villages in Kyan Khin Township. He was shot dead last night and his body was taken away by the junta troops," he said, speaking on January 16.

After Myint Thein had been killed in the evening, junta troops and police conducted a search operation in Khon Gyi village. On the morning of January 16, checks were carried out at the Aoke Pone Gate in Kyan Khin township and the Shwe Byai Phyu Gate in the Ta Laing Kwin Tract, according to a local resident.
