There was an explosion at Yangon’s Shwe Pyi Thar Township Hall in Ward 5, at around 7:30 p.m. on 9 March, according to locals.

Military Council forces are stationed at the township hall and illegally confiscated motorcycles are being stored in the hall.

"The electricity was out all night. I heard a loud explosion at around 7:30 p.m. After that, I heard continuous gunfire”, a resident said.

The township hall was slightly burnt in the explosion.

"I heard a soldier was hit. That’s why they kept shooting. There was a series of gunshots when the electricity went out ", said another resident.

It was not immediately clear who conducted the bombing operation.
