CDM teachers at Mandalay's Yandabon University detained

On 20 August the junta authorities detained seven teachers from Mandalay's Yadanabon University who had joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), according to a Mandalay Urban Guerrilla Forces statement.

"We know that that they were searching for CDM teachers from Yadanabon University at specific addresses. They arrested seven of them in Amarapura Township [where the university is located]. We heard that they are now being held at Obo Prison and that they will be taken to court and charged under Section 50. We urge other CDM employees to be careful", said the Mandalay Urban Guerrilla Forces.

A member of Yandabon University Students' Union said: "We can't confirm the exact number of teachers who were arrested because we were all out of town [when they were arrested]. We are currently trying to gather correct information about CDM teachers."
