Clashes between TNLA and Myanmar army in Shan State’s Namkham leave 5 soldiers dead

Fighting broke out between the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) and the Myanmar Army in Namkham township, northern Shan State from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on January 12.

The clashes took place near the Lwei Laung and Man Lwei villages, killing five Myanmar soldiers. The TNLA seized three weapons.

A local resident said, "I heard that after the TNLA had waited to attack the Myanmar Army advancing from Man Lwei village a clash broke out there."

It is reported that heavy artillery shells fired by Myanmar Army from Sakhan Thit hill landed in Man Lwei and Kaung Wine villages.

January 12 is the 59th anniversary of the Ta'ang National Revolution Day.

Earlier, on January 5, heavy fighting broke out between the TNLA and the Myanmar Army in Namkham, killing four soldiers.
