COVID-19 patient dies this morning, but not because of COVID-19 - Dr Khin Khin Gyi

COVID-19 patient No.5 died at 7 am this morning.

Health Ministry director Dr Khin Khin Gyi said, “The condition of the patient had been bad before he was admitted to the hospital. The reason we could extend his life longer is that doctors and nurses could provide medical treatment to him. The reason for his death is not COVID-19. He died because of his other diseases.”

The patient, 69, lived in Mingala Taung Nyunt township in Yangon. He had nasal cancer.

He received medical treatments for nasal cancer in Australia for a month, and then came back to Myanmar through Singapore. 

Dr Khin Khin Gyi said : “The No.5 patient had nasal cancer. So, he received radiotherapy. He died because of other diseases.” 

His son, aged 45 and Covid-10 Patient No 10, had close contact with the deceased, according to the Health Ministry. Patient No.10 is currently receiving medical treatments in Waibagi Hospital in Yangon.
