Fighting intensifies in Hakha Township, Chin State

As clashes between Chin joint resistance forces and junta forces increased in Chonkyung Village, in Hakha Township on 30 April, both sides suffered casualties.

According to Salai Htet Ni, a spokesperson for the Chin Nation Army (CNA), one of the groups involved in the fighting, one defence force fighter was killed and two were injured. He had no information about junta casualties

He said: “There was fighting at Chongkyung Village. We suffered injuries to two of our members and one died. There are also casualties on the regime side, but we don’t yet have any further details [about their casualties].”

The Chin defence forces managed to seize an RPG, two MA rifles, grenades, ammunition and other military equipment during the fighting.

He also said that around 3:00 p.m. on 30 April junta jets launched six airstrikes on the area where the Chin defence forces are stationed, but fortunately there were no casualties.

Following the airstrike the junta positions were reinforced with 50 junta soldiers from Hakha.
