Freight Trucks no longer allowed on Yangon-Mandalay Highway

During the COVID-19 epidemic, freight trucks were allowed to drive on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, but will no longer be allowed to starting from December 1.

“We suggested that it would be good to open the highway as a way of flowing goods. But roads are damaged and traffic congestion is caused because of trucks. And then, there will be more highway buses on the highway later. We like Yangon-Mandalay Highway because there were no checkpoints on the highway. If you take the expressway from 0 (Zero) mile, you will reach Mandalay without any obstacles. There are no obstacles up to 262 miles if you go to Taunggyi. If you go from the old road, there will be traffic jams and arguments because of roadblocks” U Kyin Thein, chairman of the Myanmar Highway Freight Transport Service Association, told Mizzima.
