Japan's Princess Yohko of Mikasa has left Tokyo for a trip to Myanmar, becoming the first member of the imperial family to visit the Southeast Asian nation, NHK World reported.

Princess Yohko is Emperor Naruhito's second cousin.

The princess reportedly received an invitation from Aung San Suu Kyi when Myanmar's de facto leader visited Japan in October for the Emperor's enthronement ceremony.
