Veteran Karen General Saw Pila Sein passed away yesterday morning. General Saw Pila Sein, the 75-year-old was an important commander in the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).

General Saw Pila Sein enlisted as a private on March 15, 1964. He rose through the ranks to become general. according to Karen News (KIC).

He was promoted to the rank of General In 2004.

It was posted on KNU central’s Facebook that the death of General Saw Pila Sein is a "great loss" for the Karen National Union (KNU) and the KNLA.
