Locals said that the military council issued a statement in Dawei and Myeik Townships, Tanintharyi region that two men riding a motorcycle together maybe be shot and killed. The order was issued through the administrative offices in both townships and the order will take effect on November 18.

The order is described as follows: two men are not allowed to ride a motorcycle; a man is not allowed to sit behind a woman driving a motorcycle; A woman is allowed to sit behind a man driving a motorcycle; two women are allowed to ride a motorcycle.

The statement said that people will be allowed to ride from November 13 to November 16 for an interim period and will be arrested on November 16 and 17. Later, those breaking the rules in the statement could be shot. A similar order was issued in Monywa township, according to locals.
