Mine attack on military convoy in Sagaing’s Myinmu Township

A joint defence force attacked a junta convoy of four military trucks with landmines in Sagaing Region’s Myinmu Township at 12:49 p.m. on 28 August.

One of the defence forces involved in the attack near to the Myinmu ring road, the People's Army to Fight Dictatorship (PAFD), said there may have been junta casualties after the attack, but they were unable to confirm casualty numbers.

The defence force fighters all manged to escape without sustaining any casualties.

“Early on the morning of 28 August we received information that four junta trucks would be heading from Monywa Township to Sagaing. We knew that the junta troops would come along this road [the Myinmu ring road] so, we planted mines and waited”, said Tayzar, a PAFD representative.

He said that the third truck in the convoy had been badly hit by the mines.

Tayzar explained: “Casualty numbers are still unknown. The junta did not send its injured soldiers to a nearby hospital. Instead, the injured soldiers were sent to military hospitals. So, it has been very difficult to determine the number of casualties suffered by the Military Council troops.”

After the attack the junta convoy continued on its journey to Sagaing.

The defence forces that jointly carried out the attack were: the People's Army to Fight Dictatorship (PAFD), DK PDF (MMU), People Knight Defense Force Myinmu (PKDF MMU), Taungtha (TTA) PDF and D.B.B.F MMU.
