More than 100 people were killed during an air strike carried out by the Myanmar junta in Pazigyi Village, located in Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region, according to sources in the Kantbalu area.

Mizzima has not been able to confirm the number of casualties independently.

Residents had reportedly gathered in Pazigyi Village to attend the opening ceremony of the anti-junta Township People's Administration office at around 7:45 am on 11 April when the airstrike was launched by the junta, according to a source.

"First, the junta's jet fighter dropped bombs, and three minutes later, a MI 35 helicopter fired. I'm not sure how many times the bombs were dropped, but it was a lot," reported an official from the Kyun Hla-Kantbalu activists group to Mizzima.

"Based on what I saw, there may be significant casualties and damage," the official added.

Mizzima is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact number of casualties.

A volunteer who is involved in rescue efforts told Mizzima that they are currently working to evacuate injured patients.

"We can't even count the bodies. We have to fear another airstrike. We are still investigating," said a volunteer.
