Myanmar junta village administrators shot dead in Mandalay’s Myittha Township

On 3 January at around 9 am, the Military Council-appointed administrator and 100-household administrator were shot dead in a village in Myittha Township in the Mandalay Region.

"Daryalkaung village's administrator and 100-household administrator were shot dead in the compound of the administrator's house. Four unknown gunmen requested that the villager show them the administrator's house. They shot both an administrator and 100-household administrator as soon as they arrived," said a Myittha resident.

The Daryalkaung village administrator U Thaung Myint, 62, and the 100-household administrator Chit Ko Ko Nyein, 38, died on the spot.

(38) were shot dead by four unknown gunmen.

"They were shot right in the face. Both were killed instantly by a single bullet wound to the forehead. The gunmen did not cause any harm to others, they simply shot and ran away," said a local resident.

No information is available to date as to who was responsible.
