Myanmar’s National Unity Government announces list of nine arms brokers

The National Unity Government (NUG) announced in a statement on January 25 a list of nine businessmen who are helping the military junta as arms dealers.

The list contains Aye Ko, Dr. Naing Htut Aung, Dr. Aung Moe Myint, Sit Tine Aung, Htun Hlaing, Jonathan Kyaw Thaung, Aung Hlaing Oo, Tay Za and Zaw Win Oo.

The announcement said an investigation done by the Business Investigation department under the NUG’s Transportation and Economic Ministry found that these businessmen hide their arms dealing for the military behind front companies and businesses.

The NUG announced that buying products from their businesses, cooperating with their businesses, or having financial dealings with them will be deemed supporting acts of terrorism.

The NUG said bombing villages and indiscriminating helicopter attacks are war crimes that need to be prosecuted at international and war crime courts.

An arms dealer, Aye Ko owns AK Companies Group, Aye Ko Family Construction, AK Construction and Industry, and Axiom Mandalay Highway Construction companies. Dr. Naing Htut Aung owns International Gateway Companies Group and Dr. Aung Moe Myint, a company called Dynasty.

Yadanabon Aviation Support Company and Suntac group of companies, which have operation rights for Yangon International Airport, belong to Sit Tine Aung. Jonathan Kyaw Thaung owns K T group and Ky-tha Group and Htun Hlaing, STE Global Trading Company.
