NUG says about 50 Tatmadaw killed in clashes in Karen State

Fighting broke out between the military council and Karen Revolutionary joint forces at around 1PM today between Metta Lin Myaing and Mae Htaw Talay villages, Lay Kay Kaw area, south of Myawaddy town, Kayin State and about 50 people, including two battalion commanders, were killed on the military side, according to the National Unity Government (NUG).

Fighting intensified between the KNLA - PDF Coalition Forces and the military troops and about 50 people, including two battalion commanders, two deputy battalion commanders, were killed, Public Voice Television (PVTV) reported tonight.

Mizzima is still seeking independent verification. Military helicopters are currently flying over the Lay Kay Kaw area.
