Over 35,000 traffic violations reported in Yangon in 2018

The Yangon Region government initiated legal action in over 35,000 cases involving violations of traffic rules and regulations in 2018, State media reported.

“A total of 21,594 cases were reported by six teams formed by the YRTA, while 6,576 cases were reported by ten teams comprising traffic police. The remaining 7,020 cases were reported by the traffic police. The cases were mostly reported in January, February, and May,” said an official with the Yangon Region Transport Authority.

A total of 230 cases involving traffic accidents caused by buses were reported in the Yangon Region in 2016, 102 cases in 2017, and 155 cases in 2018.
