Three People’s Defence Forces groups attacked a Military Council vehicle patrolling in Taze Township in Sagaing Region on the morning of 7 August resulting in the death of junta troops.

The attack lasted for only a few minutes, during which seven junta soldiers were killed and six G-3 rifles were seized, according to the Taze People's Comrade (TPC).

The attack was jointly carried out by TPC, Tanze People's Defense Forces and Shwebo district Battalion (25), and they were able to retreat without being harmed, TPC told Mizzima.

Currently, junta forces are blocking the telecommunication lines in some townships of Sagaing, including Taze Township, and are using helicopters to patrol.

Many areas of Sagaing have seen heavy fighting over last year, in the wake of the February 2021 military coup.
