Resistance group clash in Chin State costs lives of five junta soldiers

The Chinland Defense Force (Matupi) claimed they killed five Myanmar junta soldiers in a clash 15 miles from Tatupi Township in Chin State on 8 April.

The one-hour long battle between CDF-Matupi and junta forces started around 6:40 am when the junta reinforcements marched from Kyauk Htu town, the group said in a statement. Several soldiers were also injured in the clash. CDF-Matupi claimed there were no casualties on their side.

The statement said continuous heavy weapons were used to bombard the old village of Chanpyan on the Matupi-Mindat road. The shelling came from the battalion based in Matupi Township.

Earlier, on 6 April, junta troops from Kyauk Htu met with troops based in Matupi, waiting to provide security, and set fire to civilian’s houses in four areas along the road
