Restrictions put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic in KIO-controlled area

According to the KIO Central Administration, people have been restricted from entering KIO-controlled areas since July 5 due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The Central COVID Infectious Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Laiza has announced that it will close indefinitely the entry and exit points of border areas at Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) -controlled areas from July 5 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which has recently broken out again in Myanmar.

The Central Committee announced that the death toll from the COVID-19 outbreak has risen sharply in cities close to KIO-controlled areas. Moreover, the Central Committee also said that no more than 100 people should be allowed to hold rallies in KIO-controlled areas.
