The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the projects of electricity-based vehicles like electric buses and city trains as well as the projects of underground railways were future plans.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that deforestation could damage water resources and thus, effective measures need to be taken so that there were no plantations or activities of firewood and charcoal production within reservoir areas.
  • At an ASEAN Energy meeting, U Aung Than Oo, the junta minister of Electricity, said that policies were being made for 100% local production and supply of Electricity throughout the whole country by 2030.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that dairy products had to be imported and thus, activities need to be carried out to manufacture dairy products and frozen meat with modern packaging, not only for consumers in the country but also for selling abroad.
  • According to local residents, a convoy of over 30 military trucks (including 2 tanks) heading to Monekoe of Shan North arrived at Pansai (Gyukote) on Thursday night.
  • The military junta charged State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi with 4 lawsuits under the anti-corruption law; 3 cases related to Daw Khin Kyi Foundation and another one in relation to U Phyo Min Thein. Regarding those cases, investigations would be made at court in Nay Pyi Taw, starting from 1st October.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Upon requests of the NUG, Mizoram Board of Directors on Public School Education decided to carry out activities for the education of school-aged children among the IDPs. The NUG expressed sincere thanks to them.
  • The NUG announced that any efforts of the military junta to sell land and buildings of Myanmar’s embassies in foreign countries were illegal whether they were partial sales or whole ones. If such transactions were made amidst warnings, the NUG had full authority to take legal action against seller or buyer or both sides at an appropriate court at a proper time.
  • The NUG announced again that the military council was not interested at all in politically peaceful solutions. They just carried on with violence to keep power. The NUG was responsible for protection of property and security of the public. Despite appreciation for international efforts, it was not enough just to rely on the international community. With national unity, the coup would be put to an end.

Revolution Activities

  • In Chin State, a military officer was shot dead by a soldier in the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (309) based in Matupi at about 12:00 am Thursday.
  • At about 11:30 pm Thursday, the sound of ammunition fire came out in Hakha. Due to the mortars shot by the junta army, a woman was injured and some houses were damaged.
  • At about 5:00 am Friday, a combined force of KKG Regiment (2), CDM and PDF Zoland attacked Khinekan area police station (9-mile camp) on the border of Titain in Chin State and Kalay in Sagaing Region. According to CDF KKG, 5 policemen died in the incident.
  • According to CDF Kanpetlet, they attacked a military troop contingent heading to Gyindwe in the south of Chin State on the border of Longshay in Magwe Region and somewhere in Chin State on Thursday. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died, many others were injured and thus, they retreated.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union made an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • As 221-day protest, Mandalay Monks’ Union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Friday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of Mandalay engineers, Phayagyi and Cooperative University students marched against the military watchdog.
  • On Friday, ZERO TTA guerrilla force blew up a MyTel telecom tower in Chaungna village of Taungtha.
  • On Friday morning, a rally of Mandala University Students expressed their desire for the downfall of the military watchdog.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of LGBTIQ marched for the end of the military watchdog on Friday morning.
  • On Thursday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public as usual and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • According to local residents, there were two bomb explosions in Mawlamyein of Mon State on Friday morning.
  • A powerful rally of Southern Dawei made a motorbike strike against the military watchdog.
  • In Longlone Township, the junta armed forces raided Lower Yebyu village group at about 10:00 am Friday, opening fire with about 100 gunshots. According to a responsible person of Democracy Affairs Committee (Dawei District), no less than 9 people were arrested, including a female matriculation student under the age of 18.
  • In Longlone Township, a powerful rally of basic education students expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Latbadaung area of Salingyi Township, there was a march against the military watchdog in a village on Friday.
  • In Yinmabin East of Sagaing Region, local residents of a village conducted a protest against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Hommalin Township, a MyTel telecom tower in Ngopin village was blown up by Upper Chindwin Guerrilla the previous night.
  • In Wetlet Township, two MyTel telecom towers were destroyed by explosions on Thursday night.
  • In Myinmu Township, a MyTel telecom tower in Gwebindaw was blown up.
  • In Shwebo Township, local residents of a village marched on Friday morning for the end of the military dictatorship and for support of the NUG.
  • In Chaung-U Township, the junta armed forces raided Kalagyi and Kanzy villages on Thursday and fired ammunition. Consequently, at least 5 people died.
  • In Yangon, there was a bomb explosion at the traffic police booth on the corner of Inlya road and Pyi road at about 6:00 am Friday.
  • In Magwe Region, two bombs exploded at check-point of the junta army on Taungdwingyi-Myothit road near Athawka monastery on Thursday night.
  • At about 3:30 pm Thursday, a contingent of 100 soldiers was attacked with mines by Saw PDF on the road section of Saw-Kangyi. According to Saw PDF, there might be casualties of no less than 10 junta soldiers.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to KNU, BGF under the junta took away local drivers and 6 community leaders by force with 5 tractors in Myitgyo village of Beelin on Tuesday, with the excuse of changing troops and sending rations to Kyathaungseik camp.
  • In Loikaw Township of Kayar (Karenni) State, there was a fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KA+KNDF on Thursday night. Reportedly, KA lost a sergeant.
  • According to Mutra Information and Communication, there were 122 battles between the junta army + BGF and KNLA in the area under influence of the KNU Regiment (5) from 1st to 15th September. Reportedly, 70 members of the junta armed forces and BGF died, and 91 others were injured.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the junta armed forces shot mortars towards the neighborhood of Sanpya 6 Mile village. According to the KNDF, the military had been trying to set up a base there.

Summary on 17th September

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that in addition to a focus on agriculture and value-added products, milk and dairy products need to be manufactured for local consumers and even for exports. Despite his words for developing products, there were no practical policies for access to the market. The military junta, led by Min Aung Hlaing, used to find fault with the administration of the former government. In their tenure, they couldn’t have success in any sector.
  • In Chin, Sagaing and Kayar, there were frequent battles. As for Chin, nearly the whole state had to face the invasion of the junta armed forces. The logistics of the military junta to Chin was cut down in Sagaing and thus, they oppressed the region and conducted violence to local residents.
  • The strategy of the military junta is supposed to be to deploy a large number of armed forces in the areas of EAOs and clear local PDFs first so that they could securely fight against EAOs.
  • As for public protests against the military dictatorship, they were conducted as usual in Mandalay, Sagaing, Magwe and Dawei areas.
