The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Falam, Chin State, the health department of the Chin National Organization (CNO) opened a 50-bed hospital on Saturday morning. Reportedly, the (NUG) Ministry of Health and the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) sent statements there.
  • In Butalin Township in Sagaing Region, the local public administration, public health department and public education board conducted educational talks on health and mines at community-based schools.
  • In cooperation with the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, Emergency Rescue Team (Karenni) has been selling NUG Bonds for Karenni.
  • The NUG expressed its disappointment with the statement by the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar on 17 August.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On the Magwe-Myaing road section, Captain San Win Aung was caught and died on Saturday. Reportedly, he was an important person for the junta investigation in Naypyitaw. He was also a trainer for the use of drones and GPS.
  • In Seoul in South Korea, there was a combined rally against the military dictatorship of Myanmar on Sunday.
  • In Muse in Shan State, two mines exploded on the Mingalar Muse Road at about 2:00 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, a person was injured in the incident.
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, local PDFs attacked the junta armed forces setting fire to Kapaing Village and Paungwa Village at 10:30 am on Saturday.
  • In the north of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of three villages led a march against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Monywa, the junta army was attacked with mines on their way to a mine clearance operation at the crossroads of Botayza Street and Nguwa Street. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died.
  • On the 528th day of protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, the junta armed forces burnt down local villages in the southern part of Yelegyun Area. Reportedly, nearly 600 houses were damaged and two old people lost their lives in the fire.
  • In Bago, there was a banner saying ‘The generation of revolution’ on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway on Sunday morning.
  • In Washington D. C in the United States, the Myanmar community protested against the military dictatorship in front of the junta embassy on Sunday.
  • Daw Nilar Thein, thenwife of U Jimmy, called on the international community to take effective action against the military junta to prevent any more victims of the junta’s executions.
  • The junta armed forces have been arresting CDM staff from Yadanarbone University. Reportedly, seven members were arrested on Saturday evening.
  • In Tanintharyi Township in Tanintharyi Region, there was fighting between the junta army and local PDFs near Kawmapyin Village at about 1:00 pm on Friday. Reportedly, there were casualties on both sides.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, there was a rural protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday evening.
  • In Hinthada Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was an explosion near Duyar Village and Latpansu Village on Saturday night. Reportedly, two men died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • With a sense of guilt because they were responsible for burning villages and killing civilians, two soldiers from the junta army joined the KNDO, together with three weapons.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township in Kayin State, two soldiers from the junta army Unit (504) were caught by the KNDO in Yethogale Village on Friday night. Reportedly, their weapons were confiscated and they were released to Bawgali.
  • In Shadaw Township in Karenni State, a combined force of Karenni defence forces burnt the junta base camp (Point 5350) in Tanguso Area.

The Military Council

  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, there were explosions in town. Reportedly, the junta armed forces and Border Guard Force (BGF) tightened security measures and blocked off some streets.
  • In Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the compound of the monastery in Kangyigone Village on Saturday morning. According to the junta propaganda team, four people including a novice got injured in the explosion.
  • The military junta announced that they had handed over PDF members to their parents in Aungmye Thazan Township and Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region and Tamu Township of Sagaing Region on Saturday.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they had been helping disabled people in Myanmar to access rehabilitation for their life, promote their human dignity and enjoy the rights on an equal basis with non-disabled people.
  • According to the junta Myanmar-China tourism promotion team, they have been arranging to advertise tourist destinations in Myanmar on Chinese social media for the increasing number of Chinese tourists.

Summary on 22 August

  • In Sagaing Region, local PDFs have been in a position to take control of most areas. Under their protection, the public can enjoy the services of the interim public administration, health and education. On the other hand, the junta armed forces have been burning local villages.
  • In Kayin State and Karenni State, the junta armed forces faced great losses when they invaded and their base camps were controlled. As for the ethnic armed organizations involved in the revolution, they still win much support from the public.
