The National Unity Government (NUG)

 

  • In the UN Security Meeting on children and armed conflicts on Tuesday, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, called for immediate action against the violent activities of the military junta to protect young children and the public in Myanmar.
  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the Public’s Affairs Committee and the People’s Embrace Committee. Reportedly, they discussed the matters of CDM soldiers and police as well as support for them.
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, there were sports events in commemoration of the 75th Martyrs’ Day at the schools under the NUG Ministry of Education.
  • Chief Officer of Western Regional PDF Brigade (7) Unit (710) called for contributions to weapons for their force.
  • In July, the NUG Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Risks Management used 223.64 million MMK for humanitarian aid.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Kani Township in Sagaing Region, a convoy of military vessels was attacked by a local PDF at about 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reportedly, no less than five junta soldiers died.
  • In the west of Yinmabin Township, a rally of villagers marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally by villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • According to YOMA Fighter PDF –Yinmabin, they found the dead body of a junta soldier floating along the Chindwin River on Wednesday.
  • In Monywa Township, a combined force of North West PDFs attacked the junta army stationed at the Economics University on Tuesday. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, an alliance of PDFs conducted three mine attacks on a military convoy on the way to Monywa from Sagaing. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Myaung Township, the junta army set fire to the camp of PDF Taloke in the east of Myitsone Village on Tuesday.
  • In Minkin Township, la ocal PDF attacked junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members in Sanabye Village on Tuesday afternoon. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among members of the junta armed forces.
  • In Banmauk Township, the Banmauk Revolution conducted attacks at the junta armed forces and junta informers in town.
  • In Chaung-U Township, a convoy of 14 military trucks was attacked with mines on the Mandalay to Monywa Road.
  • · In Natoegyi Township in Mandalay Region, two express cars carrying junta soldiers were attacked with mines on Tuesday night.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally of local people protected by PDF members marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Pyi Township in Bago Region, a large number of the junta armed forces arrested Grade (8) students under the age of 18 at about 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
  • In Dawei in Tanintharyi Region, the junta armed forces arrested eight women at their houses in recent days.
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, there was a bomb explosion near the junta traffic police Camp on Tuesday night.
  • On Tuesday, over 40 independent schools not under junta control called on two celebrities to apologize for their social media post defaming the independent school, Kaung for Education and independent education.
  • According to a CDM policeman from Kanpetlet Police Station in Chin State, the junta administration oppresses its grassroots staff and even junta soldiers insult experienced police members.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the area under the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (5), two soldiers from the junta army, together with their weapons, joined the public on 10 July.
  • In Chin State, there were battles between the junta armed forces and CDFs from 7 to 16 July. Reportedly, no less than 67 junta soldiers died. As for CDFs, they lost two members.
  • In Sagaing Region, a local PDF attacked a convoy of military vessels along the Chindwin River on Monday. Reportedly, they confiscated weapons and items floating away from the damaged junta boats.
  • In Pinlone in Shan south, there was a clash between two Shan EAOs; the RCSS and SSPP on Wednesday morning.
  • In an interview with Mekong Media, a spokesperson of the Shanni National Army (SNA) said that would not align with either the NUG or the military junta.

The Military Council

  • According to military sources, a captain from the junta air force was sentenced to 10 years in prison for being involved in blowing up two Yak 130 aircrafts in Hmawbi Air Force base in Yangon Region.
  • According to Reuters, Ooredoo Qatar Telecom Company has discussed the sale of the shares in its Myanmar business and withdrawing from the Myanmar market.
  • After junta instructions to control the flow of foreign currency, the price of the USD has sharply increased. On Wednesday, it was worth 2500 MMK per dollar on unofficial markets.
  • In recent days, there was an argument between two policemen at the Malwe Taung gate on the Dawei to Yay road. In their exchange of gunfire, a district police officer died.

Summary on 21 July

  • After the junta restrictions on foreign currency, the local market has been in chaos with a high demand for U.S. dollars and a sharp decrease in the value of MMK. Consequently, the cost of living has gone up, posing challenges for the general public.
  • Due to mismanagement by the military junta, foreign investors are considering leaving the country.
  • There have been heavy battles against dictators all over the country. As for the junta armed forces, they have suffered great losses. Moreover, the number of CDM soldiers and police has been rising every day.
