The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Katha District, 4four soldiers from Ka-La-Ya 77 under Regiment 88 in Motagyi Motalay joined the CDM and the public. On behalf of the NUG Ministry of Defence, responsible personnel from No. (1) Military Area rewarded each of them with 50 lakh MMK.
  • For the interim advanced education, the NUG Ministry of Education has been conducting an opinion poll of teachers and students.
  • In memory of the 46 th anniversary of Salai Tin Maung Oo, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council stated that the junta army has turned a blind eye to the efforts for federal democracy. The junta army seized power from the public again on 1 February 2021 and it has been making an effort to keep its military dictatorship alive.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Kyaikto Township in Mon State, Thatone District PDF Brigade (3) stated that local people were to stay away from the junta vehicles on the roads starting from Sunday and they were not to go out after 8:00 pm.
  • In Thatone Township, the junta army raided Tonebolay Village on Saturday night and killed 10 Karen ethnic people including a child, a woman and a disabled person. Reportedly, they put the dead bodies into houses and set fire to them.
  • C&T Shwebo announced that the public were not to use the Shwebo-NaunggyiI Road from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am until the end of June.
  • On Sunday, the Kalay General Strike led a march against the military dictatorship in memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of Salai Tin Maung Oo.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of the New Strength protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday in memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of Salai Tin Maung Oo, raising a banner that said ‘You can kill only my physical body, not my faith or spirit’.
  • According to Black Dragon Special Task Force, an alliance of local PDFs shot 10 mortars into the compound of the Northwest Regional Military Headquarters in Monywa Township.
  • On their 472 nd day of protest, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning. In memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of Salai Tin Maung Oo, they raised a banner saying ‘We’ll never kneel down before your army boots’.
  • In memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of the student leader Salai Tin Maung Oo, Western Chindwin Strike Committee led a protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Tamu, the local PDF destroyed a MyTel telecom tower and related equipment owned by the junta army.
  • In memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of student leader Salai Tin Maung Oo, Monywa youthsa marched against the military dictatorship, chanting ‘We’ll never kneel down before your army boots’.
  • On Sunday, Shwebo PDF announced that they had caught a member of the junta army during their clearance operation in the area.
  • In Tamu Township, there have been ongoing battles between the junta army and local PDFs. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Yangon, members of Dagon University Students’ Union burned the gallows on Sunday to show their fearless soul.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, AJ placed a banner with the last words of Salai Tin Maung Oo- ‘We’ll never kneel down before the army boots’.
  • In memory of the 46th anniversary of the death of student leader Salai Tin Maung Oo, the Mandalay Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta movement on Sunday, hanging a banner ‘We’ll never kneel down before your army boots’ on a bridge on Yangon-Mandalay Highway.
  • In Hlaingthaya, Shwepyitha and North Dagon townships, there have been theft cases in which electric wires between houses and power supply posts are cut off and stolen.
  • In South Korea, the Ginme Spring Revolution conducted a fund-raising sepak takraw competition. Reportedly, over 150 people from 12 Myanmar teams took part.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, Aung Thu Kyaw, a member of the Pakhannge police camp, joined a local PDF named MBRF on 22 June.
  • In Ngayotekaung in Ayeyarwaddy Region, a man who had been accused of having contact with PDFs was killed while being interrogated by the junta.
  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, the junta army arrested a woman running a construction material shop in Ward (2) to question her on Friday morning.
  • On Sunday, the judging panel announced that a special prize from the Park Jong-Cheol Human Rights Award in South Korea had been awarded to Dr. Tay Zar San, a leading democracy activist after the military coup.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Wawlay Area in Kayin State, a special KNDO commando force attacked the junta’s Ukaritta camp at 5:00 am on Sunday. Reportedly, they were not able to control the camp till noon.
  • According to the ULA/ AA, the junta army has arrested 21 Rakhine people including three youths aged below 18.
  • In Indaw Township in Sagaing Region, there was fighting between a combined force of the KIA helped by a local PDF and the junta army invading the area at about 5:00 pm on 23 June. Reportedly, there were many casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • At the headquarters of the SSPP/ SSA, there was an event in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which fell on Sunday. Reportedly, more than 2,000 people, including SSPP/SSA members, leaders and local residents, joined in.
  • In Pekone in Karenni State, KNDF B03 caught a truck carrying illegal timber from Loikaw to Meittila.
  • To commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Wa Army burned confiscated drugs in the 171 military area of Wa State South on Sunday.
  • The chair of the RCSS/ SSA said that the eradication of drugs has been never ending because successive governments have turned a blind eye to the drugs trade and have accepted bribes from drug dealers.

The Military Council

  • On Saturday evening, the military junta instructed staff members from other departments to take refuge at police stations in Rakhine State because the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta are arresting each other’s administrators.
  • In Taungoo District in Bago Region, the junta army arrested a PDF member named Ko Nyein Mg and two women on the highway on 22 June.
  • In Pathein in Ayeyarwaddy Region, no less than four fighter jets had been flying at the junta air force at about 1:30 pm on Sunday.
  • According to local people, the military junta has been forcing rice warehouses in Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region to close. Moreover, there have been cases of arrests and confiscations.
  • According to political observers, the military junta repeatedly used the word ‘federal’ just to persuade ethnic armed organisations to sign peace deals.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, the military junta burned confiscated drugs on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Sunday morning.
  • The junta leader said that taking advantage of the political situation, drug dealers had been producing and distributing drugs in various ways. He also said that those people were to be effectively identified and arrested.
  • The ASEAN Special Envoy to Myanmar will come to the country for the second time on 29 June to have another discussion about Myanmar’s affairs.
  • The junta media claimed that PDFs had been disturbing the development of education in some townships.

Summary on 27 June

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that there had been production and distribution of drugs in various ways by taking advantage of political situation. As for RCSS that met with him in recent days, their leader said that successive governments could not eradicate drugs because of bribery. In reality, military officers and the EAOs have been involved in major cases of drug transportation.
  • Reportedly, there were nationwide movements against the military dictatorship in memory of student leader Salai Tin Maung Oo.
  • Like their violent activities in the upcountry region, the junta army set fire to whole villages and shot mortars wildly in Thatone  District under the control of the KNU. It is typical of them to act in such ways at this time of great loss.
  • In Wawlay in Kayin State, a combined force of the KNU counter-attacked the junta army. In Kyaikto and Sagaing, local PDFs warned that the public was to take care as there would be attacks on the junta armed forces.
