The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Spring Lottery Family announced that they would resume the sale of the Spring Lottery or so-called Revolution Lottery for April.
  • Ministry of Defense-NUG announced that they warmly welcome those who would leave the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and join the public.

Revolution Activities

  • Mandalay Monks Union called on the monks not to join the rice-offering ceremony organized by the military junta.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township of Mandalay Region, there was a paint-spray protest against the military dictatorship near the administration office on Saturday morning. Reportedly, the junta armed forces had to block off the streets to clear fake grenades left by protesters.
  • From Insein Prison, political prisoners conveyed the message that they would not take part in the water festival organized by the military junta in prison. They also called on revolution forces and the public to do so throughout the country.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, a combined rally of District Students Union and Anti-Dictatorship Force marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday, holding anti-junta banners.
  • According to a confidential fax, the military junta would keep snipers on high-rise buildings around Yangon Regional Military Headquarters in the water festival period.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, there was an anti-junta movement on Saturday morning, calling on the public not to take part in the water festival organized by the military junta and turn it into Revolution Thingyan.
  • Despite their order to celebrate the water festival, the military junta did not allocate any budget. Consequently, the staff had to demand money from the public.
  • People Defense and Guerrilla Vanguard – PDGV announced that they would conduct midnight explosions in honor of those who had lost lives in Spring Revolution and to strengthen the momentum of the revolution. After that, there were bomb explosions in many townships of Yangon Region on Friday midnight.
  • Ko Ye Htet Aung, a protest leader of Young Myanmar Ranger (YMR) who had been sentenced to lifelong imprisonment, was charged under the arms law (19 F) on 23 March.
  • As a 388-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Ayadaw Township of Sagaing Region, an alliance of PDFs managed to take control of the junta army camp in Thitkyingyi Village at 1:00 pm Friday.
  • As a 419-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On social media, a video went viral in which a junta army officer swore and slapped a driver in the face at the Pali Linn inspection gate at the entrance to Taunggyi in Shan South.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Reportedly, a woman was injured due to their gunshots and many houses were set on fire.
  • In Kamma, a convoy of World Food Programme (WFP) carrying basic food items for the IDPs had to go back to Pakkoku as they were not allowed to proceed by the junta armed forces.
  • In Taninthayi Region, Revolution Force warned the public not to take part in the water festival organized by the military junta.
  • In Taninthayi Township, there was fighting. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and 2 others were injured.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • KNLA released a video in which 16 junta soldiers, prisoners of war, were detained in the area under KNU Brigade (5) were still alive. According to them, the junta soldiers when they were
  • serving in the Myanmar army had no access to information as they were not allowed to use the internet and they had been led to believe that they were fighting to protect the country from foreign countries they were told would invade to control Buddhism and the pagodas in Myanmar.
  • In Karen State, KNLA attacked the junta armed forces in the area under KNU Brigade (5) on a daily basis. According to Mutraw Newsletter, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • On 29 March, a convoy of 84 military trucks from Mindat to Matupi was attacked with a variety of mines by local CDF. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • According to Interim Khumi Affairs Coordination Council (IKACC), Paletwa Township has been a part of Chin State since independence and it would remain the same in the future.
  • In Zalun Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, 14 people were arrested for bomb explosions in the area.

The Military Council

  • On Friday, the junta Central Bank announced that up to 100 lakh MMK could be withdrawn per week from each bank account for health and religious reasons.
  • In Moscow, the Europe-Asia Economic Commission and Russian Economic Team met with U Lwin Oo, the junta ambassador, at the Myanmar Embassy on Friday.
  • Deputy Chair of the junta Central Bank said that they would continue to apply Easing Monetary Policy until the end of the year due to current affairs in the global financial market, especially the sharp increase in fuel prices.
  • On Friday, Chinese Foreign Minister told the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs, who had been on a business trip to China, that they would support the return of Myanmar to the democratic transformation process.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that statistics must be accurate for a free and fair election in 2023.

Summary on 2 April

  • The military junta asked for help from China for their election. As for China, they promised that they would provide support. Without enough budget even for the water festival, the military junta have been arranging for a costly election.
  • The military junta have been following the path of former dictators for religious, racial and nationalism propaganda. According to a junta soldier detained in a KNU area, he had fought in battles to protect Buddhism from the danger of foreign countries. Among the junta army and USDP members, they spread the message that the religion would be damaged if Daw Aung San Su Kyi continued to rule the country.
  • As for Sagaing, Karen, Karenni and Chin, they had battles every day. In Yangon and Mandalay, there were still protests and activities of guerrilla revolution.
