Summary on 30th August

  • Depending on Russia, China and ASEAN, the military junta had been trying to gain legitimacy in the international community. To show as if there were no protests in the country, they had been putting efforts to oppress protesters, PDFs, CRPH and the NUG. However, such attempts of the junta without the public’s support were in vain.
  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights- NUG, said that international diplomatic confrontations might become severe. Therefore, it was likely that important decisions on Myanmar would be made in the international community.
  • It could be said that the whole Spring Revolution was in a great momentum. Especially in Mandalay which first protested against the military dictatorship, various rallies still expressed their disapproval amidst arrests and killings. In Sagaing and Mandalay, public protests were powerful and so was an armed revolution with informer-clearance activities. In Ayeyarwaddy which was silent all the time, armed revolution activities got started. In Chin and Kayar, peaceful protesters had been unjustly killed. Based on that, local people started to fight against the military junta with whatever weapons were available. At present, they were nearly as powerful as EAOs and they were in a position to counter-attack the junta army. In Yangon, there were no public protests. However, the urban guerrilla revolution gained momentum and they could threaten the military junta.
  • Due to the power of KIA and MNDAA, the junta army had such a great loss. The same was true in Kayah and Kayin states.
