The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG stated that the military junta is still carrying out violent activities in Myanmar. They also called on G7 members and all of those who had been invited to the meeting to have a
  • discussion focusing on the humanitarian and economic crisis.
  • The NUG announced that it was concerned for the lives of those being held in detention like hostages, including the President, State Counsellor and political stakeholders.
  • The NUG Union Prime Minister said that to uproot the military junta, it was necessary to fight in various sectors like the diplomatic, military and political sectors with the unity of the
  • public. He also stated that it was very important for the interim administration to be in a good balance.

Revolutionary Forces

  • In Yangon Region, there was a rally prior to the anniversary of the 7 th July Students’ Uprising on Tuesday, with people chanting ‘Never forget 7.7.62’.
  • On Tuesday, the National League for Democracy (NLD) announced that action would be taken effectively, both by law and by the regulations of the party, against the effort to open offices in their buildings and intrude there.
  • In Letpadaung Township in Bago Region, a combined rally of students’ unions conducted an anti-junta movement on Tuesday morning, hanging a banner saying ‘Never forget 7.7.62’ at the entrance gate of No. (1) High School.
  • Karen National Union- KNU announced that they would take responsibility for administration in Shwekyin Township in Bago Region and that all the junta administrators should resign.
  • In Madaya Township in Mandalay Region, a local underground revolutionary group carried out an attack with mines on the junta army on their way to clearance operation in the area at 12:40 p.m. on Monday. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • In Myinmu Township, a military truck was attacked with eight types of mines by a local PDF at about 9:10 p.m. on Monday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died and many others might have been injured.
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, local people, in cooperation with the Basic Education General Strike Committee, marched against the military dictatorship on Monday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Ye-U, a local PDF attacked the junta army stationed in the traditional medicine hospital on Monday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and 10 others, including a captain, were injured.
  • On their 481st day of protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Kani Township, local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning, holding signs including the ones- saying ‘How Many villages must burn to get the UN to help Myanmar People?’
  • In Kalay, there was an anti-junta movement on Tuesday afternoon that placed a poster against the military dictatorship in the middle of the road.
  • In Kayin State, an unknown group attacked the junta army on the Kawkarait-Myawaddy Asia Road demanding money at about 6:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, no less than three junta soldiers died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the area under KNLA Brigade (5) in Kayin State near the Myanmar-Thai border, the junta army attacked an Arakan Army (AA) camp with two fighter jets on Monday afternoon. According to an AA spokesperson, the AA will take necessary action in response.
  • The AA announced that six of its members had lost their lives in the junta air strike in the KNLA area near to the Myanmar-Thai border.
  • In the area under KNU Brigade (5), there was an ambush of the junta Border Guard Force-BGF (1013) on 1 July. According to KNU-Mutraw News, all seven members in the car died.
  • In Phalan Township in Chin State and Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there were 11 battles between the junta army and the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) in May and June. Reportedly, 66 junta soldiers died. As for the CNDF, they lost three members and four others got injured.

The Military Council

  • New Zealand resigned from the meeting of the ASEAN Defence Committee on Counter Violence, which will be co-chaired by the military junta of Myanmar and Russia in July.
  • The Foreign Currency Monitor Committee announced that Starting from July, exports of rice, bean, corn and oil crops must be carried out only in USD in all border areas.
  • The Chinese Foreign Minister said that regarding Myanmar, he had been looking forward to the reestablishment of a democratic transformation and the transfer of power back to the
  • public.
  • The junta Central Bank announced that there were five more exemptions, including special economic zones, from the policy of changing foreign currency into Myanmar Kyats within
  • one day.
  • At Hmawbi Air Force in Yangon Region, junta soldiers reportedly practiced parachuting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Summary on 6 July

  • On his trip to Myanmar, the ASEAN Special Envoy to Myanmar called for Daw Aung San Su Kyi to be sent back home and asked to meet with her and the former First Lady. There is only
  • a slim chance that his requests will be granted. He could only have junta arranged meetings with EAOs. Despite his best intentions for the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus, his trip might
  • achieve little, as usual.
