Yangon Region

  • With the excuse that an explosive had been found at the rubbish dump near BOC bus stop on Laydaunkgan road in Thingangyun Township, the junta armed forces blocked off the road and made inspections at about 8:00 am.
  • The youth in South Dagon held a guerrilla protest with anti-junta words in red paint on roads in their township.
  • In Thaketa Township, Ma Htay Htay Win, toilet keeper at (7) market, was shot by an unknown gunman at noon Monday. Reportedly, she was injured in her shoulder and cheek. She is a resident of the Cooperative Quarter in (7) Ward. Her husband is a staff member of the City Development Committee and her son is in the army. She is allegedly an informer to the military junta.

Mandalay Region

  • The junta armed forces arrested four people including Ko Myat Thu, leader of Man Ba-Ka-Tha rally, at the house where they had been staying on Sunday afternoon. Moreover, a large number of junta soldiers arrested Ko Nyi Nyi, leader of Daungsitthi rally. It is still unknown where they are being detained.
  • With banners calling for the cooperation of comrades, Man Alliance of Variety Forces expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • A rally of Man Aungmye Thazan Schools went around the town and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of Mandalay Youth went near the places where there were the junta armed forces and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • A rally of Mandalay University students went around town in the afternoon and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Manlay Pyinyat Monks’ Union peacefully expressed their desire for the release of those who have been unjustly arrested and against the military dictatorship.
  • Some young residents of Mandalay made indoors flower strike against the military dictatorship, with anti-junta words in flowers.
  • The junta armed forces have been conducting patrols in downtown areas of Mandalay with a police car leading two military trucks full of junta soldiers. According to a resident of East Palace at 4:00 pm, fire ammunitions were heard all across the city on Sunday night.
  • In Myingyan, Ma Mya Mya Soe said to be an informer to the military junta, was stabbed to death at about 3:00 pm Sunday.
  • The youth in Thazi Township made a protest against the military dictatorship, holding banners with words of strong determination.

Bago Region

  • Bago Township PDF announced that it was them who had shot Kyaw Soe or Kyaw Kyaw, a former soldier and former administrator, on Socialist Road in Bago.
  • In Paungte, the junta armed forces did not find Ko Pyae Bone Paing in their raid at his house in Hintha Ward on Sunday morning. Therefore, they arrested his grandfather, an 80-year-old man and Township NLD EC member, and his father, journalist at Midland Press, as hostages. They then released them separately in the evening and at night.
  • Bago PDF announced on Monday that they had been preparing for manpower and weapons so that they could fight at the same time as the PDFs in other states and regions when the NUG called for D-Day. They had to do activities in secret, and thus, they had to keep the information confidential. Therefore, they requested the public to understand it.

Sagaing Region

  • In Shwebo Township, U Kyaw Oo, headmaster of the primary school in Ywatha, was stabbed dead by some unknown people in his house on Sunday evening.
  • In Kawlin Township, KIA, in cooperation with Kawlin PDF, made a guerrilla attack at a convoy of military trucks on Sunday evening. Reportedly, two military cars were burnt, many junta soldiers died and a lot of others were injured.
  • In Kani Township, the junta armed forces that had stationed at Htoopauk village on Sunday took away four villagers as hostages on Monday morning and went up to some upper villages in two groups by land and by waterway.
  • In Minkin Township, the junta armed forces and Pyusawti members had arrested 3 residents of Kyaukketat village on Sunday. Reportedly, they shot two of them dead on Monday morning and threw their dead bodies into the Chindwin River. Further enquiries are being made to confirm this.
  • Amidst the high rate of COVID-19 transmitted cases in Kalay, a rally of young residents went round the town with preventive measures and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin District, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East went round the villages with hundreds of people and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Salingyi Township, Latbadaung Taung General Strike went around the villages and expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Butalin Township, people went around the villages and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army (44) is stationing in Kyi village due to the report by informers that people had been gathering there. So, the villagers had to run away. The junta armed forces fired mortars into some villages of Dibeyin Township recently and a lot of residents lost their lives. Moreover, a local woman who had run into the forest died as she could not get medical treatment for snakebite.

Magwe Region

  • In Pwint Phyu Township, the junta armed forces arrested Ko Naung Naung, a resident of Magyigone village, on Sunday due to the report of informers that he had weapons. Many local people were arrested due to such reports in the villages of Pwint Phyu Township.
  • In Pauk, there was a loud explosion in the compound of the high school on Monday morning. Reportedly, there was no injury. The junta soldiers have been staying there.
  • The youth in Gantgaw Township made a guerrilla protest on farms and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • In Mawlamyeingyun or Mawgyun Township, there was an explosion under the table of U Kyaw Maung, junta-appointed administrator, at Ward (12) administration office at about 9:00 pm Sunday. 4 members of the people’s army, who were in the office, were injured.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region with stay-at-home townships due to the high rate of COVID-19 infection, the military junta has been preparing to conduct the training for the illiterate. Reportedly, they have asked for training plans through district education offices.

Taninthayi Region

  • There were cases of assassination in Dawei and Longlone Townships. In Longlone Township, U Saw Hla and his wife, residents of Pyingyi village, were attacked between Kayingyi village and Panyit village on their way back home after selling fish. 40-year-old U Saw Hla died in the incident and his wife was injured. She has been receiving medical treatment for her knife wounds at the military hospital. In Dawei, a man wearing a mask came into the house of U Aung Myint in Sanchi Ward, asking if he could hire a three-wheeler. He then shot at U Aung Myint, who was injured in the upper area of his right eye. He was sent to the hospital for medical treatment.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of 4 villages; Kyet Yettwin, Mainmachaw, Pyinchaung and Natsin Shaung, went round the villages at dawn and protested against the military dictatorship. There was also a protest at dawn in Thajettaw village to express their disapproval of the military dictatorship. Chanting for the downfall of the military dictatorship, there were rallies in Maungmagan, Sitpye and Nyinmaw villages. A rally of Lower Yebyu village expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Young students from Dawei-based Ba-Ka-Tha made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • Dawei Variety Forces, in cooperation with the rally of the youth, chanted anti-junta slogans, went round the town and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yebyu Township, Kanbauk residents expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship, holding signs- “We will never be silent”.
  • In Myeik, the junta armed forces arrested Ma Aye Chan Mon and Ma Zin Mar Phyo in Thuwunna Ward at about 1:00 am on 4th July, with the excuse that they had taken photos of the military preparing weapons at the entrance of Myeik and posted on social media.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, Oattu villagers made a protest in the evening and expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.

Kachin State

  • In Hopin, the junta armed forces and Pyusawti members arrived at Thegone village with a military truck and ten motorbikes at about 7:00 pm Sunday. They then raided the monastery and beat the abbot for sharing anti-junta news on social media. Some monks from the monastery and the villagers had to run away.
  • Shweku PDF announced on Monday that they, in cooperation with KIA, fired gunshots and mortars at the secret hiding place of the junta armed forces near Ngabatgyi village and Shweku police station at about 11:00 pm Sunday.
  • The youth in Moegaung made a protest at dawn to show their support for the NUG and their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Young residents of Nammati made a protest at dawn and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Pha-Kant, the public from Tamakan Myothit protested against the military dictatorship, chanting that they stand with Kawlin and Dibeyin in Sagaing Region where there have been oppressions by the junta armed forces.

Kayah State

  • In Lwaikaw, a man named U Myint Thein was shot by some unknown people near the religious hall in Kyithaya Ward. He was hit with a bullet and sent to a hospital. However, he died at about 9:00 pm.

Kayin State

  • In commemoration of Kawthulay Armed Forces Day, KNU personnel conducted talks on the history of Kayin Army at Tayi Phokwi village school in Hlaibwe Township and at Kudone village self-help school in Kawkayait Township. Kayin Army is an armed organization that has been fighting against the military dictatorship since many years ago.
  • Due to the battles between INU and the junta armed forces in June, (954) households fled to Myeingyingu and Kamamaung. Those IDPs cannot return home yet. They have been facing difficulty in food.

Chin State

  • Due to the battles in Mindat, the people had to face difficulty in their daily basic needs like food and health care. At such time, merchants have been selling consumer goods at high prices. Therefore, Mindat Township Administration Team called on merchants to make their sales at reasonable prices. They also announced on Monday that they would take serious action against the sellers who fail to follow it.
  • Despite the ceasefire in Mindat, the junta armed forces continue to strengthen their manpower, according to the residents.
  • At about 3:00 pm, a man who was allegedly an informer in Htantalan was shot dead while he was riding a motorbike in Lonetal Ward. Enquiries are being made for further details about him and the incident.

Mon State

  • The local people in Paung Township made a protest against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta posters.

Shan State

  • In Hopone, a petro bottle was thrown into the township education office at about 10:00 pm during the curfew on Sunday. As the window had iron bars, only the window-glass was broken. After the incident, the junta armed forces arrived there and made inspections. The township education officer has been putting pressure on the staff members who have joined the CDM. There had already been two explosions at that office.
  • The youth in Thipaw made an indoors strike, holding posters with anti-junta words including “Regardless of COVID-19, we will keep protesting until we get back our power”.

Rakhine State

  • After the high rate of COVID-19 infection in the townships of Rakhine State since the last two weeks, the junta departments made the campaign for the prevention of COVID-19 in Sittwe on Monday.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • According to the instruction of the military junta, the foreigners who have been working in Myanmar’s telecommunication businesses are not to leave the country without a permit.
  • At the 9th World Peace Forum held on 3rd July, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that dialogue is encouraged to resolve Myanmar’s issue and it must be done within the constitution and legal frameworks.
  • Japan-based Asahi Shinbun newsagency wrote the news on Monday that the junta armed forces had raided Prestige Residences Condo in Yangon, where Japanese diplomats and JICA officers lived, in April. They had beaten the Myanmar manager and some staff members who tried to stop them. They had also ordered them to destroy CCTV records.
  • The Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Response by the NUG had its first meeting on Monday. Reportedly, they discussed the matters for responsive and effective support to the public who have been facing the dangers of the dictatorship and the pandemic. They also set out the work plans.
  • The junta central bank sold 3 million US$ on Monday at the rate of 1625 Kyats per dollar.
  • Regarding the charge against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi with Section (505-a), her lawyer team objected to the documents submitted by the suer. However, the township court rejected their objection in the trial on Monday. Therefore, they proceeded to the district court, which immediately rejected it.

Summary on 5th July

  • In addition to a guerrilla protest on the streets in Yangon, there were informer-clearance activities. The military junta has been conducting patrols with a large number of armed forces in the townships where there tend to be protests. They have also carried out more motorbike arrests.
  • In Mandalay, there were still public protests. As for the military junta, they have been patrolling in the city with a large number of armed forces. They opened fire and there were some explosions in many parts of Mandalay during the curfew on Sunday night. The military junta continued to arrest protest leaders and political activists with the help of their informers.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been raiding villages in Dibeyin Township. In Kawlin, there have been frequent attacks on military convoys and the buildings of the junta armed forces.
  • In big towns of other states and regions, there were still public protests. As for some towns, they had almost no protests due to the high rate of COVID-19 infection.
  • The military junta still has pressure from protests on the streets and counter-attacks. They have been conveying the message for the path of negotiation through China to reduce international pressure. The military junta has been using too much force to kill the people in the areas where there are armed revolutions. They have also been conducting arrests in towns and cities for various reasons.
