Thai authorities rescue two Burmese nationals from sinking boat

The Thai Border Guard Special Force carried out an emergency rescue of two Myanmar nationals when their fishing boat sank in Thai territorial waters on 26 June at around 12 p.m.

The boat sank between Kawthaung in Tanintharyi Region on the Myanmar side and Ranong on the Thai side, according to the Royal Thai Army's social media page.

The Royal Thai Army said that the boat had been carrying seafood from Myanmar's Kawthaung to Ranong in Thailand when it was sunk by strong winds and waves in Thai territorial waters just off the coast from the port of Ranong, close to the fishing island of Koh Sarani (Phi Island).

The Thai authorities have now transferred the two rescued Myanmar nationals from Ranong to Kawthaung.
