A bomb reportedly exploded inside the Shwe Nan Daw Gold & Jewelry shop at the corner of Lanmadaw street and Mahabandula road in Yangon and injured several people.

The neighboring resident said that a salesgirl in the shop was injured when the bomb exploded around about 2 p.m. on July 8.

The resident said the shop is owned by Thet Thet Khaing. “A hand-grenade was reportedly thrown and glass was scattered on the road. Soldiers arrived. I heard that a person was hit. I think it must be an employee, a salesgirl. Now they are inspecting after having blocked the road.”

The shop is reportedly owned by Thet Thet Khaing, the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Minister of the Military Council. It is currently closed and under investigation.
