Turkey has reportedly banned arms sales to the Myanmar military as a response to the coup and the use of weapons against civilians.

The Turkish Ambassador to the UK has now written to Rushanara Ali, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Democracy in Burma, informing her that Turkey now has a ban on the export of arms and military equipment to Myanmar.

Turkey became the 45th country to publicly state it won’t sell arms to the Myanmar military.

The Myanmar junta is coming under increasing pressure from foreign countries and the United Nations due to its illegal grabbing of power in February 2021 and its brutal crackdown on protesters and civilians.
